Best Strains For Motivation

At this time of year, when it’s dark most of the day and the cold is starting to seep in it can be extremely hard to get motivated in the morning. First, everything outside your cosy bed filled with your body heat feels like arctic tundra. Then you have to shower, so literally get your body all warm and damp then step back into a freezing bathroom with tiles that have been saving up cold all night long. It can also be hard to get motivated in the evening, or at lunchtime, or really at any point in the day where you have to do something but it’s cold and gross and you don’t want to. Luckily the magical plant has something for that. There are strains for pretty much every state of being, including feeling unmotivated. So here are just a few of my favourite strains for motivation.

Durban Poison

This strain is well known all over the world for its impressive energetic high. Not only is it packed to the brim with vigour and vim, but it is extremely happy and cerebral. This makes it great for those days where seasonal depression has leaked into your brain and is making all those boring chores and tasks completely impossible. This strain is great for improving mood while also helping you just get things done. Durban Poison is also popular for its unique flavour. It tastes of aniseed, spices, cloves and liquorice which makes it a fantastic option for winter. This strain is fast-acting and will get you jazzed up immediately. It also clears foggy brains and helps you think and focus better. Ideal if you have actual work to do rather than mindless chores and errands. Durban Poison can be grown indoors, outdoors or in a greenhouse and has a flowering time of 8 – 9 weeks.

Lemon Haze

Our next strain is more refreshing than happy but still gives a lift to mood. This strain was created by crossing Lemon Skunk and Super Silver Haze, both of which are very impressive strains. Lemon Haze really clears out the cobwebs for those mornings where you just haven’t slept well and your brain is begging you to shuffle back down under the covers. Once again the flavour is an important part of this strain, a combination of fresh lemon and sweet haze that tingles the tastebuds. The effect kicks in a little slower with Lemon Haze than it does with Durban Poison. Rather than hitting like espresso, it has a nice slow build that brings you up and helps you focus. Lemon Haze has a flowering time of 9 – 10 weeks and grows well indoors, outdoors or in a greenhouse.

Jilly Bean

This perky sounding strain definitely lives up to its name. Another strain with a fantastic bouquet that is a mouthwatering mix of honey, orange, mangoes and wildflowers. This strain is aimed straight at the creatives and those who need to be imaginative for a living. Jilly Bean sends the brain soaring into a clear and inspirational space where anything is possible. Ok, that’s a little over the top, but if you are having writer’s block or struggling with a painting this is the strain for you. Despite it being a thought-provoking strain is also maintains a real sense of clarity, avoiding a tangled brain full of noise and clutter. Even though its effect can be intense the actual THC level is only 11% so you should be able to still focus easily. This strain will leave you happy, motivated, energetic and productive. It has a flowering time of 8 weeks and will grow well indoors or outdoors.

Chocolope

This strain is a favourite for those who need to stay active all day. Chocolops is ultra cerebral and long-lasting with a hit that brings on intense motivation. Many consider this the ideal wake and bake strain because not only does it give you plenty of energy but its chocolatey flavour goes absolutely perfectly with coffee. This is the strain for anyone who is experiencing depression exhaustion and is finding it hard to get out of the house. Smoking this strain will have you ready to get out and enjoy nature with a lovely hike or just going to the park and watching the dogs run around. The THC level on this one is a little higher, around 17%, but should be perfectly fine for anyone with a higher tolerance. Chocolope really makes the world easier to deal with overall and is an extremely popular motivational strain. It has a flowering time of 63 – 77 days and can be grown indoors, outdoors or in a greenhouse.

CBD Mango Haze

CBD Mango Haze is an option for those who don’t want to mess around with large amounts of THC. This strain has a 1:1 THC to CBD ratio so it will let users keep a clear head while still getting the perky motivational effects of the strain. Like most of these motivational strains, it has a yummy flavour profile that includes spice, pepper and herbs as well as mango and pineapple. The highest the THC gets with this strain is usually around 6 – 8 %. Unlike some of the zippier strains, CBD Mango Haze is also quite relaxing on the brain. This is great if you have a big long list of things to get done and are prone to anxiety induces procrastination like I am. This strain is also perfect for working from home and generally getting chores done in a chill and relaxed manner. It also means that once you have everything finished up you can just chill out in front of the TV instead of feeling like you want to scale a mountain. As it is CBD heavy this strain is also recommended for medicinal weed users. It has a flowering time of 9 – 10 weeks and can be grown indoors, outdoors or in a greenhouse.

Hopefully, these strains will keep you ticking over no matter what winter throws at you.
